Type: Half-Day Workshop

Who: BBC

When: January 2025

Where: MTW Studio, Salford, UK

We brought tufting into a live television studio — delivering a hands-on challenge that translated craft into an engaging broadcast moment.

In January 2025, we delivered a half-day tufting workshop for presenters on Blue Peter, filmed in-studio as part of a challenge segment.

The session was designed to be fast-paced, camera-friendly, and accessible — introducing presenters to tufting fundamentals while ensuring clear visual outcomes for broadcast. We guided them through the process of designing and creating their own rugs within a structured timeframe.

Once completed, the rugs were taken back to the main studio and presented as part of the finished segment, bringing contemporary textile craft to a national audience.

The focus was on:

  • Translating hands-on craft for screen

  • Making tufting visually engaging and accessible

  • Delivering strong outcomes within time constraints

  • Introducing a wide audience to contemporary rug making
